China Unicom Southwest Data Center becomes one of the first batch of green data centers in the country

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration of Government Affairs, and the National Energy Administration jointly issued a document identifying China Unicom’s Southwest Data Center (Water and Soil IDC Computer Room) as a national green data center pilot unit.

In order to implement the requirements of the "Opinions of the State Council on Accelerating the Development of Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Industries" (Guofa [2013] No. 30) and comprehensively improve the energy conservation and environmental protection level of data centers, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration of Government Affairs, and the National The Energy Administration decided to carry out the pilot work of green data centers and jointly issued the "National Green Data Center Pilot Work Plan".

As the only municipality directly under the Central Government in the western region, Chongqing is among the first batch to be included in the national green data center pilot areas.

As the first batch of cloud data centers to settle in Chongqing Liangjiang Cloud Computing Industrial Base, China Unicom Southwest Data Center actively carried out the application for the National Green Data Center Pilot Unit in 2015 with the support of Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission. Work, work hard, and eventually succeed.

The successful application of the national green data center pilot unit makes the Southwest Data Center one of the first batch of green data centers in the country and will play a leading role in the entire IDC industry.

The pilot work not only received attention and support from the national level, but also played a role in the further construction of Chongqing Unicom’s green data center.Active promotion can achieve the effects of improving the energy utilization efficiency of IDC computer rooms, reducing PUE values, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving water, and establishing and improving green hierarchical operation and maintenance management and statistical analysis systems.

This pilot will play a key role in saving energy and reducing consumption in the water and soil IDC computer room, reducing operating costs and improving market competitiveness.
