China's optical transmission equipment market grew by 11% in 2015

The latest report from Dell'Oro Group shows that the global optical transmission equipment market in 4Q15 increased year-on-year grew by 10% to nearly US$4 billion. In 2015, the global optical transmission equipment market revenue exceeded US$13 billion.

Jimmy Yu, vice president of Dell'Oro Group, said: "The demand for optical transmission equipment in the fourth quarter was much higher than we expected.

Especially. Two market segments outperformed expectations and reached record levels in 2015: demand for WDM metro equipment, which we estimate grew by 15% in 2015; and demand for optical equipment in China, which grew by 15% in 2015. 11% increase in 2015

Other highlights of Dell'Oro's quarterly report include:

 The top two global manufacturers in the fourth quarter were Huawei and ZTE.

Driven by Chinese market demand, the market share of both manufacturers increased year-on-year.

The growth in sales revenue of WDM metro equipment outpaced all other product segments, including DWDM long-distance equipment.

This is the first time since 2011 that WDM metro equipment has grown faster than DWDM long-distance equipment.

 The sales revenue of 200Gbps coherent line cards has reached a considerable level in this quarter.

Dell'Oro expects the segment to triple in 2016.
